In 1982, if you asked me what my dream would be, I’d have said Marc Almond (Soft Cell) working with Matt Johnson (The The). And here you have it. I can’t precisely pinpoint why this song tugs at my heartstrings so much. It just sounds so bleak, the dust of Summer London gutters and thick Turkish coffee, nicotine fingers and dashed boyhood dreams. Everytime I hear this song, I get sucked into it and spat out of it. “You bastard, the last look you gave me was cold…..”
